Kolkata doctor rape and murder case live updates: As part of the investigation, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials on Thursday visited the residence of the 31-year-old trainee doctor who was raped and murdered at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital and spoke to her parents. He said the CBI has also interrogated five doctors of the hospital, the hospital's former director and vice-president (MSVP), the principal and the head of the chest department where the victim's body was found.
Meanwhile, Kolkata police arrested 12 people and detained three people over hospital vandalism during midnight protests seeking justice. Shortly after midnight on Thursday (August 15), unidentified gangsters forced their way into the hospital and damaged some medical facilities.
According to police, a group of at least 40 people pretended to be protesters and entered the hospital, throwing rocks at police and damaging property. Police said they attacked emergency rooms, nursing stations and pharmacies, while also damaging CCTV cameras and ransacking a stage where junior doctors had been demonstrating since August 9.
