Congress president Mallikarjun Khage.
The opposition cried foul, with three activists filing a complaint against Gehlot, accusing the chief minister of “abusing” his position.
After Karnataka Governor Thaaararchand Gehlot approved prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over the MUDA compensation land allocation scam, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday said that BJP-appointed governors are creating trouble in non-BJP-ruled states.
However, he insisted that he must find out why Gehlot allowed the prosecution of the Karnataka chief minister.
“I have not seen and do not know the specific content of the notification. I have not seen the reason for the permission. I cannot say now whether the notification is right or wrong,” Haq told reporters in Bengaluru.
“One more thing is that wherever the BJP appoints governors, whether in West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, wherever there are non-BJP governors,” the Congress president said Government localities (states), they are all creating more trouble. He said he would prefer to react after knowing the details of the case and consulting with lawyers.
In the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allocation 'scam', compensatory land was allegedly allotted to Siddaramaiah's wife Parvathi in Mysuru An upscale area in Seol where property values were higher compared to the location of her previous land assignment.
The opposition cried foul, with three activists filing a complaint against Gehlot, accusing the chief minister of “abusing” his position.
Siddaramaiah denies the allegations and insists his wife deserves fair compensation. He also claimed that this was a conspiracy against him to destabilize the Congress government by deposing him.
