On Saturday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the world is in uncertainty, while also emphasizing that the war situation has brought challenges to the development process of various countries.
Speaking at the third Voices of the Global South Summit, the Prime Minister stressed that terrorism, extremism and separatism pose serious threats to our societies.
“We are meeting at a time of great uncertainty in the world… war situations pose challenges to our development journey. We already face the challenge of climate change, but we also worry about health, food and energy security. Terrorism, extremism ism and separatism pose serious threats to society. Technological divides and technology-related economic and social challenges have also emerged, and the global governance and financial institutions established in the past decade have proven unable to cope with the challenges faced by this century.

Prime Minister Modi said that India is advancing the G20 with a development orientation and setting the agenda in line with the expectations, aspirations and priorities of countries in the global South.
“When India takes over the G20 Presidency in 2022, we commit to giving the G20 a new identity. The Global Voices Summit will serve as a platform for us to discuss development issues and priorities broadly. India’s plans are based on the aspirations, hopes and priorities of the global South. The G20 agenda is inclusive and development-oriented. The biggest example is the historic moment when the African Union became a permanent member of the G20,” he added.
Leaders of other countries, including Bangladesh Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, also attended the summit virtually.
