The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) has finally entered Meerut, starting train services in the city from Sunday. These trains, which so far operated only from Ghaziabad, will now go to Meerut South station.
The station not only provides RRTS services but also city metro services. Moreover, it is also the largest parking facility along the RRTS corridor in Uttar Pradesh, an official statement on Sunday said.
“The Meerut South RRTS station will open for passenger operations today (Sunday) at 2:00 pm. With these eight-km section, the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is now operational with a total length of 42 km, covering 9 stations from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South.

Time, tickets, facilities
The Namo Bharat train will run on the entire stretch from Sahibabad to Meerut South from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. “The first train in both directions will depart at 6 am and the last train will leave the terminal stations – Sahibabad and Meerut South – at 10 pm,” it said.
The one-way discounted fares for Namo Bharat trains are Rs 110 for standard class from Sahibabad to Meerut South and Rs 90 for standard class from Ghaziabad to Meerut South.
The Meerut South RRTS station will have the largest parking facility in Uttar Pradesh along the RRTS corridor to enhance passenger convenience.
“There are two parking lots on each side of the station entrance, covering an area of about 13,000 square meters. These lots can accommodate about 1,200 four-wheelers and two-wheelers. In addition, there is also a dedicated parking lot for auto-rickshaws. The design of the station Designed to facilitate easy entry and exit for vehicles coming from Meerut and Delhi, it can be accessed directly from the main road.
To accommodate passengers with disabilities, the stations have designated parking areas and easy-access ramps to ensure they can easily travel on Namo Bharat trains.
Local metro services, RRTS and connections
Apart from RRTS trains, the station will also provide local metro services to the Meerut region. The station has three tracks – two for RRTS trains and one for metro services – spanning three platforms.
The station is divided into three levels: ground, mezzanine, concourse and platform. It is about 215 meters long, 36 meters wide and 22 meters high.
The entire section between Delhi and Meerut is 82 kilometers long with 25 stations and is expected to be completed by June 2025. As per the current plan from Delhi, Modipuram and Modipuram stations are the last stops of Meerut RRTS.
The RRTS will enter Delhi from Anand Vihar, the next stop after Sahibabad. In Delhi, the RRTS will stop at New Ashok Nagar, Sarai Kale Khan and Jangpura. The service currently connects Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Gurdal, Duhai, Duhai Station, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North and Meerut South.
