In terms of India's overall strategic interests in the region, Nepal is an important neighbor of India.
Nepal's Foreign Minister Arsu Rana Deuba will pay a five-day visit to India starting Sunday to explore ways to further expand bilateral ties, officials said.
Deuba is scheduled to hold extensive talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday, they said.
Nepal's foreign minister's visit comes a week after Foreign Minister Vikram Misri visited Kathmandu.
Nepal is an important neighbor of India in the overall strategic interests of the region. Leaders of the two countries often mention the long-standing “Roti Beti” relationship between the two countries.
The country shares over 1,850 kilometers of borders with five Indian states – Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Nepal is a landlocked country and relies heavily on India for transportation of goods and services.
