Two 4-year-old girls were allegedly sexually assaulted by a school staff member in the washroom of a prestigious school in Bhadrapur
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday said he has directed two 4-year-old girls to be sexually assaulted by school staff in Maharashtra The police took strict action against the accused and expedited the proceedings through “fast-track courts”.
“I have directed the police commissioner to take strict action against the accused and face trial in a fast-track court,” Shinde told reporters. CNN-News18 in an interview.
The Maharashtra Chief Minister further stated that any lapse in police management will not be tolerated. “No one is immune,” he added.
The accused, Akshay Shinde, a cleaner hired through a third-party company, was arrested after his parents urged him to lodge a formal complaint despite the initial delay in lodging the FIR.
The parents' demand for the death penalty triggered widespread protests in Thane district, including a city-wide lockdown and disruption of local train services between Kalyan and Kalajat.
The incident also led to administrative changes within the local police force, with the senior inspector of Bhadrapur police station accused of trying to suppress the case being immediately transferred. The parents alleged that they were forced to wait for more than 12 hours before filing the FIR.
