Tribute to three memorials
The Prime Minister paid homage to three monuments, including that of Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, where he was affectionately known as the “Good Maharaja” for the sacrifice of more than 1,000 people who fled the Soviet Union. Polish children were provided with asylum.
In 1942, after Poland was occupied by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, the Maharaja provided asylum to approximately 1,000 Polish children from refugee camps in war-torn Poland and the Soviet Union.
The surviving Polish children formed an association of Polish people, which held annual meetings in a major Polish city, the report said.
According to the Indian Embassy website, eight primary and secondary schools in Poland are named after Jam Saheb, who is known as the “Good Maharaja” in Poland.
He also delivered eulogies at the Walivad-Golhapur Camp Memorial and the Battle of Monte Cassino Memorial in Warsaw.
“Humanity and compassion are important foundations for a just and peaceful world. thanks poland
Modi thanked the Polish people for their warm welcome to him. “In the past week, the media has discussed a lot about Poland and its people. It is said that this is the first visit to Poland by an Indian prime minister in 45 years.
He also thanked the Polish government for its support during Operation Ganga, especially for providing visa exemptions to Indians.
Modi also praised the achievements of the Polish kabaddi team.
He also said that India and Poland have many similarities. “One of them is democracy. India is not only the mother of democracy but also a participatory and dynamic democracy. The people of India have full confidence in democracy, which was evident in the recent (Lok Sabha) elections.
He said that if a country faces a crisis, India is the first country to lend a helping hand. “When the coronavirus struck, India said – humanity first. We shipped medicines and vaccines to more than 150 countries around the world. Wherever there was an earthquake or any disaster, India had only one slogan – humanity first.
He also recalled that Poland was one of the first countries to provide assistance when an earthquake struck Gujarat twenty years ago.
“Quality manufacturing, quality talents”
Addressing the Indian diaspora, Prime Minister Modi said that India will now focus entirely on quality manufacturing and quality human resources as they are key aspects of global supply chains.
“In Budget 2024, we have placed a strong focus on ensuring skill training and job creation for the youth. We want to turn India into a hub of education, research and innovation,” he said.
He also launched the Jam Saheb Memorial Youth Action Plan, under which India will invite 20 Polish youths to visit India every year.
Modi said he is committed to making India the world's third-largest economy in his third term.
“NASSCOM estimates that India will become a trillion-dollar economy by the end of this decade, thanks to its digital infrastructure,” he told the crowd.
He said that India’s wisdom is global and India’s vision is global. “We see the entire world as one big family and this is evident in India's policies and decisions today,” he said.
He said that the balance between economy and ecology is India's top priority today.
“Only India is advancing both developed and net-zero resolutions,” he said.
