The partnership will significantly enhance passenger experience by generating unique Delhi Metro QR codes on the RRTS Connect app and Namo Bharat QR codes on the DMRC mobile app, an official statement said. representative image

The partnership supports the 'One India – One Ticket' initiative and allows passengers to book QR code tickets for Namo Bharat or Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and Delhi Metro services on a single platform

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which operates Namo Bharat trains on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor section, on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to integrate its ticketing system, providing seamless mobility to the residents of the National Capital Region of Delhi.

The partnership supports the 'One India – One Ticket' initiative and allows passengers to book QR code tickets for Namo Bharat or Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and Delhi Metro services on a single platform.

The MoU was signed in the presence of NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goel and DMRC Managing Director Dr. Vikas Kumar.

“With this integration, customers who book their Namo Bharat train tickets through the RRTS Connect app can also purchase Delhi Metro tickets. Similarly, passengers who book their metro tickets using the DMRC mobile app can also add their Namo Bharat train tickets. This partnership A unique Delhi Metro QR code will be generated on the RRTS Connect app and a Namo Bharat QR code will be generated on the DMRC mobile app, thereby significantly enhancing passenger experience.

The currently operational 42-km RRTS corridor is seamlessly connected to the 393-km DMRC network, providing a unified and efficient ticketing and travel experience to commuters across the NCR.

“This integration encourages the use of public transport, which is critical to increasing footfall and ensuring the long-term sustainability of these capital-intensive projects,” the statement added.

This joint initiative between NCRTC and DMRC aims to provide comprehensive travel solutions, enhance customer convenience and promote efficient transportation across the Delhi-NCR region. It is also expected to reduce queues at NCRTC and DMRC stations, saving valuable time of passengers and encourage digital transactions and eco-friendly travel options.

This initiative is in line with the Prime Minister's National Gati Shakti Master Plan, which envisages seamless integration between different modes of transportation. RRTS stations are strategically located nearby and integrated with existing train, metro and bus stations to form an extensive network.

“This initiative further promotes green rail-based mobility within the National Capital Region of Delhi by eliminating the need to switch between different ticketing applications while switching between NCRTC and DMRC networks,” the statement added.

Prior to this, NCRTC and IRCTC had recently entered into a similar collaboration to book Namo Bharat train tickets on the IRCTC platform.

Earlier this month, NCRTC collaborated with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) to offer tickets on Namo Bharat trains under the 'One India One Vote' initiative. Last month, Delhi Metro and IRCTC also launched a similar collaboration.

Last month, IRCTC and DMRC joined hands to launch a first-of-its-kind initiative where users can book metro tickets along with rail bookings.

With a design speed of 180 km/h and an operating speed of up to 160 km/h, Namo Bharat trains can significantly reduce travel time in the region by up to one-third.

Once the entire 82-km corridor is completed by the target deadline of 2025, passengers will be able to reach between Delhi and Meerut within an hour.
