In Kukai, devotees follow a unique tradition where they tie 11 rupees on a yellow cloth and offer it to the Lord through prayers, believing that this ritual will fulfill all their wishes. Located on the south bank of the Tirumanimutharu river in the heart of Salem, Munyappan temple is famous for resolving issues such as land disputes, marital problems and business difficulties. It is generally believed that after worshiping Muniyappa, their wishes will be fulfilled within 40 days.
One devotee claimed that they learned about Muniyappa Swami from other devotees who shared that their unresolved issues were resolved after visiting the temple. One has a long-running land dispute and the other has a long-pending court case. After experiencing tremendous mental stress, devotees come to the temple to pray for resolution. “Within 40 days, our land problem was completely resolved. Although surprising, it was true. Therefore, they began to believe in the power of Muniappa Swami.
The faith of the believers has been instilled and new demands have been made. Devotees now begin to wish for other requests after their previous wishes were fulfilled. They believe that their other requirements and desires will also be met.
