Delhi Auto Taxi Transport Congress Alliance has launched a two-day strike demanding adequate compensation services from aggregators
As the auto-taxi strike in the National Capital Region of Delhi entered its second day on Friday, it was difficult for people to book taxis and auto-rickshaws through app-based aggregation services.
The Delhi Auto Taxi Transport Congress Alliance has launched a two-day strike demanding adequate compensation services from aggregators. This, along with the introduction of bike taxis, has further affected the livelihood of taxi and autorickshaw drivers, the union claimed.
Fifteen unions are involved in the strike in Delhi, with commuters in the national capital region claiming that while some auto drivers are charging extra on top of normal fares, some are refusing to travel to certain destinations.
“I tried to book a car on the app to reach my residence in Jangpura from New Delhi railway station but failed,” Vinay Kumar said. “Though I have a car car, but I had to pay Rs 100 extra on top of the normal fare in Jangpura,” he said.
Khushbu, a media professional traveling to Delhi from Gurgaon, said: “Taxis are refusing to go to Delhi as the drivers are worried that they may face resistance.”
