Stone art is the use of hard materials found underground for artistic purposes. This can include carving statues, making jewelry, assembling mosaics, and more. Carving art on stone is an ancient custom that has been followed by our ancestors. Many historians have discovered the history of extinction while analyzing stone carvings. As times changed, people modernized the art. Now a teacher in West Bengal's North Dinajpur district is teaching his students to make handicrafts out of stones.
Teacher Dilip Kumar Das is a resident of Kaliyaganj in North Dinajpur district. He taught his students to make novel items from stones found on the road. With the help of these stones, his students are making decorations and other items. Together with his students, he collected stones of different types and sizes. Students first clean the stones properly and then paint them. With the help of these colored stones, students made different types of handicrafts on paper.
Students use stones on white paper to draw various beautiful flowers, birds and other objects. Dilip Kumar Das is a professional teacher who always emphasizes that students should discover something new outside of moral education. Dilip Das said there are different shapes of stones in nature. “If we can use this stone to discover new things instead of throwing it away, students can use these stones to find new sources of income in the future,” Dilip Das said.
Stone carvings are often used to create sculptures, statues or decorative items. Dilip Das is popular for painting different types of pictures using stones. Students interested in painting are embracing this art form with enthusiasm. The resources required for this art are also cheap, making it an easy and affordable source of income for many people if successful.
