An Indian Air Force military transport aircraft brought the remains of 25 Indian pilgrims from Bharatpur in Nepal to Jalgaon in Maharashtra on Saturday.
An Indian died in a tragic bus accident on Friday in Nepal's Tanahun district, about 115 kilometers from Kathmandu.
Officials said that a total of 27 Indians were killed in the accident and the bodies of two of the deceased will be transported to Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh.
“The #IAF quickly responded to the call for critical humanitarian support and deployed a C-130J aircraft to airlift the remains of 25 Indian citizens who tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Nepal,” IAF at 'X'.
“The remains were transported from Bharatpur (Nepal) to Jalgaon (Maharashtra). The Indian Air Force expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
Indian pilgrims are on a 10-day pilgrimage in Nepal. Sixteen other people were also injured in the accident.
According to local officials, the pilgrims' bus veered off the highway and plunged into the fast-flowing Masyandi River in Abkereni, Tanahun district.
