“A private helicopter crashed near Podh village in Pune district. The helicopter belonged to a private airline. It was flying from Mumbai to Hyderabad. Among the four people on board the helicopter, the captain was injured and was admitted to the hospital. The remaining three are in stable condition.
The helicopter is owned by Global Vectra.
Manoj Yadav, inspector of Podh police station, said heavy rain was falling in the area and bad weather was suspected to have caused the crash. After the plane crashed, locals rushed to rescue the passengers.
“When they took off from Mumbai, the weather was fine, but when the helicopter reached the Podh area, it ran into difficulties as it had been raining since last night. The pilot tried to land but hit a Babur tree and crashed into ground,” said inspector Yadav.
He said the impact of the crash appeared to be lessened in the end because trees broke off the point of fall. The official said there were no reports of any technical problems encountered by the helicopter.
