The matter came into focus as the boy's family searched for a missing set of keys that the boy said he had swallowed.

In a shocking and bizarre incident, a boy from Bihar's Motihari swallowed several metal objects, including a bunch of keys, two nail clippers and a Knife, almost survived.

According to News18 Hindi, the incident involved a boy from Motihari Chandimari area who was addicted to smartphones, online games and social media. The matter came into focus as the boy's family searched for a missing set of keys that the boy said he had swallowed.

At first people thought he was joking, but he was later rushed to a doctor. After an ultrasound and sonogram, it was discovered that he had a number of metal objects in his stomach, such as a bunch of keys, nail clippers and a knife. Despite swallowing the items, he remained unharmed.

Dr Amit Kumar, a doctor at a private hospital, operated on the boy for about an hour, during which time the doctors removed everything he had swallowed.

According to the boy's mother, he was addicted to social media, online games and surfing the Internet on his smartphone. She said he spent most of his time watching videos/reels and due to this he became mentally fragile. Previously, he often played online games such as “PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds”, which led to a decline in his mental balance. For his health, the family had to see a doctor.

Recently, he started swallowing metal objects one by one without others knowing. The mother said that the boy was motivated to prove that he was different and better than others through such behavior.

Doctors say that parents should be vigilant about their children and be wary of their children being addicted to mobile phones and social media. He also recommended psychiatric guidance, counseling and, if needed, medication for appropriate treatment. He further said that children and teenagers should use mobile phones wisely.
