A physical education teacher and seven others have been arrested for allegedly sexually molesting a 12-year-old girl student of a private school in Pimpri Chinchwad, police said on Saturday.
An official said the police arrested the accused on Friday based on a complaint filed by the girl's parents at the Nighdi police station.
He said the teacher had previously been jailed for indecency, but the school reinstated him after his release.
According to the complaint, the teacher had allegedly been sexually harassing the girl for the past two years, the official said.
The defendant allegedly touched the girl inappropriately during gym class and waited for her outside the girls' restroom. He also threatened her multiple times,” he said.
The accused has been charged under Section 74 (Assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage a woman’s modesty), Section 78 (Stalking), Section 79 (Words, gestures or conduct with intent to outrage a woman’s modesty), Section 351 (Criminal intimidation) Register the case.
Others arrested included the school principal, some trustees and board members, the official said.
