A man allegedly killed his 70-year-old mother here after she refused to give him money to buy alcohol, police said Monday.
The accused was identified as Ravinder (35), a native of Nurpur village, they said.
Lavender's sister Kapur told police her brother was an alcoholic and disabled. A police officer said he was undergoing treatment at a drug rehabilitation center and had recently returned home.
After killing his mother Roshni Devi with a sharp weapon, Ravinder called Kapur and informed her about the incident.
“He told me that my mother refused to give him money to buy alcohol,” Kaboul told police.
The complainant also told police that she and her son returned from their in-laws' home and found their mother dead in the yard, a police officer said.
Based on Kapur's complaint, police registered an FIR at Bilapur police station and arrested Ravinder on Sunday. “The accused was produced before a local court and sent to judicial custody,” the official added.
