Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav claimed that citizens are free to practice their respective religions but they must be patriotic as they can survive only if India remains an intact nation.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday said those who want to live in Bharat must pay homage to the Hindu gods Ram and Krishna.

He claimed that citizens were free to practice their respective religions but they had to be patriotic as they could survive only if India as a nation remained intact.

Yadav was attending an event in Chanderi town of Ashok Nagar district to commemorate Krishna Janmashtami.

The BJP leader insisted that India does not differentiate between Hindus and Muslims but needs people who understand God, God's creation and the universe, pointing out that Rahim and Raskan (famous medieval Muslim poets who worshiped Hindu gods) were born here .

“If we connect ourselves to the soil, we will remember them (like Rahim and Raskan) for centuries, but be careful, those who eat here but have faith elsewhere (jo yaha ka khata hai, kahi aur ka bajata hai)…this will not work.

“If you want to live in Bharat, you have to pay homage to Lord Ram and Lord Krishna (Bharat me rahna hoga to Ram, Krishna ki jai kahna hoga). There is nothing outside them. We want to respect our country Everyone, we will not insult anyone,” Yadav told the rally.

The chief minister maintained that Hindus and Muslims have been working together to weave sarees at the Handloom Park in Chanderi.

He told the gathering to applaud the workers of the two communities working in the Handloom Park.

“We believe in the philosophy of 'Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah, Sarve Santu Nirayamaya' (May all be happy and free from disease). We have a sense of purity for all. Whatever your form of worship, whatever your religion, you You are free to do anything. But first, you have to be patriotic. Without patriotism, nothing will happen until the country survives,” Yadav pointed out.

He said that Raja Medini Rai of Chanderi was killed fighting the Mughal emperor Babar and more than 1,600 queens showed their strength by throwing themselves into the fire.

The Chief Minister participated in various events and also held a roadshow in Chanderi, known for its heritage architecture and handloom sarees.
