Uttar Pradesh's first semiconductor park near Noida airport promises to transform India's tech landscape through massive investment and innovation
Uttar Pradesh's first semiconductor park will be built near the Noida International Airport in Greater Noida Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. Three companies have been approved. The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the production of semiconductors on 225 acres of land in Sectors 10 and 28.
Yamuna Development Authority CEO Arun Vir Singh told Local18 that Kaynes Semicon Private Limited and Vama Sundari Investments in Sector 10 have been awarded 50 acres of land each for setting up semiconductor units. Apart from this, 125 acres of land will be allotted to another company in Sector 28.
Construction work is about to begin. These companies will be monitored from time to time. The company responsible for the project will also be monitored.
CEO Arunvir Singh said Vama Sundari Investment is preparing to set up its semiconductor conductor unit on 50 acres of land. The plant is expected to create employment for 13,780 people. The facility will produce 240,000 wafers per month and require 19 MW of electricity and 2,000 MLD of water.
Keynes Com Private Limited will also set up its unit on 50 acres of land and they will require MVA power. The third Turco company will get 125 acres of land from the Yamuna Development Authority. All three companies will have to invest between Rs 40,000 and Rs 80,000 crore in the three allotted areas.
CEO Arunvir Singh further said that semiconductors in the form of silicon wafers are used in computers, mobile phones, gas testing and automobiles. The automotive industry is expected to undergo major changes in order to increase the production of wafers.
India has to wait longer due to shortage of chips due to war in Russia and Ukraine. It is believed that the construction of semiconductor devices will help solve the shortage of critical chips. Singh said this semiconductor park in Greater Noida will prove to be an important step towards self-reliance in the country's technology sector.
