The Maryland Department of Environment has issued an orange air quality alert for the Baltimore metropolitan area and Annapolis area for the second consecutive day, this time Tuesday.
The National Weather Service said that in Code Orange, it urges children, asthmatics and others sensitive to polluted air to avoid strenuous activities or sports outdoors. The threat level is higher than yellow (moderate), but lower than red (unhealthy) and purple (very unhealthy).
Tuesday is expected to be sunny with temperatures reaching the mid-80s in the afternoon and dropping into the mid-70s at night.
Wednesday is expected to be hot and rainy, with a maximum temperature of around 97 degrees and a heat index of around 104 degrees.

High temperatures on Thursday are expected to drop back into the upper 80s, with a 40% chance of rain in the morning, while the chance of afternoon rain drops to 30% overnight.
Friday is expected to be cloudy with a high temperature around 80 degrees.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected starting around 2pm on Saturday and continuing into the evening.
Sunday and Monday are Labor Day and are expected to be mostly sunny with highs in the mid-80s.
