An autorickshaw driver allegedly drugged and raped a 19-year-old nursing student as she was returning home from college in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, police said. The driver gave the girl spiked water and after she fell unconscious, he took her to a secluded place and raped her.
According to police, the nursing student had booked a car home from her university when the driver attacked her. The survivor called his family after regaining consciousness.

The girl's family reported the incident to police on Monday. The incident sparked massive protests in Ratnagiri with people blocking roads demanding justice.
Police are using CCTV footage to find the divers. The survivors have been taken to local hospitals for treatment.
The incident came to light at a time when massive protests broke out across the country seeking justice for a 31-year-old trainee doctor who was raped and murdered on August 9 at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
