Railways has issued notification regarding running of a train every two weeks between Bandra Terminus and Madgoan, Goa
The Railway Board has approved the operation of fortnightly trains to Goa and Maharashtra's Konkan region from Bandra Terminus station of Western Railway (WR), officials said on Tuesday.
They said the train will depart from Borivali, the main station on the Western Line, on August 29 instead of Bandra Terminus.
Currently, all trains from Mumbai to Konkan and Goa run from the Central Railway Station.
The trains to Goa from Bandra Terminus will benefit tourists from the western suburbs of Mumbai who want to visit the coastal state – a popular holiday destination.
An WR official said that since there is no rope, they will have to change direction from north to south at Vasai Road to run Konkan-bound trains from their system, which will be very time-consuming and may also affect other railways. Train punctuality.
He said the Railways has issued a notification regarding running of a train every two weeks between Bandra terminus and Madgoan, Goa.
The train will depart from Madgaon at 7.40 am every Tuesday and Thursday and reach the Bandra terminus at 11.40 pm. As per the notification, the flight will depart from Bandra terminal at 6.50 am every Wednesday and Friday and reach Margaon at 10 pm.
The train has stopped at 13 stations: Borivali, Vasai Road, Bhiwandi Road, Panvel, Roha, Veer, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavli, Sindhudurg, Sawantwadi, Thivim and Karmali.
The notice stated that the train will be operated by 20 LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) type passenger cars.
These carriages offer train passengers greater safety, comfort and efficiency.
