A tram operator at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport was killed near the Terminal 1 parking space on Wednesday by a man who suspected the former of having an affair with his wife.
The shocking incident took place around 7 pm when the accused Ramesh attacked the victim Ramakrishna with a machete. Following the attack, the accused was detained by Devanahalli police.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the motive for the killing was believed to be a personal grudge.
According to police, accused Ramesh suspected Ramakrishna of having an illicit relationship with his wife.
He was allegedly waiting for an opportunity to confront Ramakrishna in their village, but she later discovered the latter was working at the airport. So, in a fit of rage, he reached the airport, attacked Ramakrishna and cut his neck with a machete.
talking india todayThe accused packed the machete in his college bag and took a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus to the airport, said the deputy commissioner of police of northeastern Bengaluru city. When he traveled by bus, his bag was not scanned.
The DCP further informed that the incident occurred near the restroom in the arrival parking lot (lane 1) of Terminal 1.
