Based on the complaint of the victim, an FIR was registered against the accused under Section 65(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) (rape of woman below 12 years of age) and Section 6 of the POCSO Act
A minor girl was allegedly raped by a 52-year-old man at a cemetery in west Delhi's Rohini on the pretext of performing occult rituals for her ailing father, officials said on Wednesday.
According to the complaint filed by the 12-year-old victim, the accused Mohammad Sharif lured her to the graveyard in Kanjhawala to perform “tantra” (occult exercises) to cure her chronically ill father and later raped her Got her.
“On Tuesday, Kanjawala police station received a call about a girl being sexually assaulted. A police team was dispatched to the spot,” a senior police officer said.
Police said that based on the victim's complaint, a charge sheet was registered against the accused under Section 65(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) (rape of woman below 12 years of age) and Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
“We have arrested Mohammad Sharif. The girl has also undergone medical examination at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. Further investigation is on.
