An IAS couple shocked everyone by getting married for Rs 500, setting a powerful example of simplicity and commitment

Weddings are often marked by lavish spending and grand celebrations. However, this IAS couple set an example by opting for a simple marriage that cost just Rs 500.

The power couple also returned to the office two days after their wedding, setting an example for newlyweds to take ten to fifteen days off to attend a special ceremony.

IAS officers Saloni Sidana and Ashish Vashisht tied the knot in November 2016. The wedding took place at the Additional District Magistrate Court, Binder, Madhya Pradesh. Their families were present at the ceremony.

The only expense paid by the two for the wedding was the court fee, which was Rs 500, payable at the additional magistrate's office in Binder.

Ashish Vashisht hails from Alwar in Rajasthan while Saloni Sidhana hails from Jalalabad in Punjab. Both are the first IAS officers in their respective families. While the couple attracted a lot of attention after their wedding, they chose to stay away from social media and publicity.

Ashish Vashisht graduated from IIT Roorkee and is currently serving as Additional District Judge of Bhopal district. Saloni Sidana holds a Bachelor of Medicine in Internal Medicine and was previously a physician. She is currently posted in Jabalpur. Saloni changed cadres after her marriage.

Saloni Sidana and Ashish Vashisht, both IAS officers of the 2014 batch, fell in love when they were just appearing for the civil services examination and went to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie for IAS training.
