A total of 183 pilgrims have died since the Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand began in May this year, the National Emergency Operations Center said on Wednesday.
SEOC said of the 183 deaths, 177 were due to health-related issues and six due to natural disasters along the pilgrim route.

The number of pilgrims heading to Kedarnath has dropped sharply since July 31 as heavy rains wreaked havoc on the trekking route to the temple.
While pilgrimage to Kedarnath via trekking routes remained largely suspended in August, pilgrims arriving at Kedarnath by helicopter continued. According to data released by SEOC, 86 houses were completely damaged, 242 were severely damaged and 1,229 were partially damaged due to natural calamities in 13 districts of Uttarakhand since June 15.
