    Alma mentions Tungabhadra, look at water levels in Karnataka dams this monsoon

    There was abundant rainfall in many parts of the country, and flooding occurred in some areas. According to the meteorological department, heavy rainfall is possible in coastal areas and southern inland areas. Karnataka is expected to receive heavy rains over the next five days, prompting officials to issue another rainfall alert. Due to increased rainfall in the region, various dams are filling up rapidly.

    As of August 29, the Tungabhadra reservoir was just 4 feet away from being full. Currently, the water inflow into the reservoir is 29,014 cusecs; it currently has 90.384 TMC water. The total capacity of the dam is 105.788 TMC and requires 15 TMC of water. After the No. 19 gate of the dam was closed, the reservoir has been filled with 19 TMC of water.

    Here are some updates on other dams in Karnataka:

    Krishna Raja Sagara Dam (KRS Dam) is located in Mandya, Karnataka, with a total capacity of 49.45 TMC. The current water level is 48.34 TMC. The current inflow is 7,250 cubic seconds and the outflow is 4,214 cubic seconds.

    Kabini Dam is located in Beechanahalli. It can hold 19.52 TMC of water and the current water level is 18.85 TMC. The current inflow from the dam is 4,919 cusecs and the outflow is 3,350 cusecs.

    Almati Dam is also known as Lal Bahadur Shastri Dam. This is a hydroelectric power project on the Krishna River in North Karnataka. The total capacity is 123.08 TMC. The current water level is 118.05 TMC. The current inflow is 1.58,383 cusecs and the outflow is 1,72,932 cusecs.

    The maximum capacity of Bhadra dam in Vadiyuru is 71.54 TMC and the monetary water level is 66.18 TMC. The current inflow is reported to be 10,933 cusecs and the outflow is 3,942 cusecs.

    Ghataprabha reservoir is located in Belagavi district of the state and has a total capacity of 51 TMC. The water level is 50.34. The current inflow into the reservoir is 24,181 cusecs and the outflow is 25,796 cusecs.

    The current inflow of Malaprabha dam is 18,029 cusecs and the outflow is 16,444 cusecs. It can hold up to 37.73 TMC and the current water level is 36.06 TMC.

    The total capacity of Hemavathi dam is 37.10 TMC. The current water level is 37.06 TMC. The inflow of water is 13,771 cubic seconds and the outflow is 13,700 cubic seconds.

    Apart from this, here are some details about other dams and reservoirs –

    Varahi Dam

    Total capacity: 31.10 TMC

    Current water level: 23.07 TMC

    Current flow: 2,629 cusecs

    Current out: 0 cusecs

    pandan

    Total capacity: 8.50 TMC

    Current water level: 8.30 TMC

    Current flow: 1,293 cusecs

    Current outflow: 1,300 cusecs

    Linganamaki Reservoir

    Total capacity: 151.75 TMC

    Current water level: 146.25 TMC

    Current flow: 33,286 cusecs

    Current flow: 26,963 cusecs

    supa dam reservoir

    Total capacity: 145.33 TMC

    Current water level: 129.41 TMC

    Current flow: 17,740 cubic seconds

    Current outflow: 12,136 cusecs

    narayanapura dam

    Total capacity: 33.31 TMC

    Current water level: 28.24 TMC

    Current inflow: 177,407 cusecs

    Current flow: 182,112 cusecs

    Vani Vilas Sagar

    Total capacity: 30.42 TMC

    Current water level: 21.03 TMC

    Current flow: 693 cusecs

    Current out: 135 cusecs
