Police said the woman had been married to her taxi driver husband for three years but had domestic disputes.
A 25-year-old dance instructor was found dead at her Bengaluru residence. She was tied to a chair, tortured and strangled. Her husband, a taxi driver, was arrested on Wednesday (August 28) after her friend discovered the body and called the police.
According to reports, the police identified the deceased as Navashree and the accused as Kiran. Police said the couple had been married for three years but had been involved in domestic disputes.
Aishwarya, the friend who discovered the body, told police that the day before she was found dead, Navashri told her and another male friend, Anil, that she feared for her life.
Police said Navashree and Kiran lived in a rented accommodation in a residential building in SMV Layout Kengeri Upanagara. Hailing from Bhadravathi in Shivamogga district, Navyashree is a dance instructor at a private school.
The friend's complaint stated that she was with Navyashree on the night of the incident. She told police she drank and went to bed, only to wake up in the morning to find her friend dead. She suspected Kieran might have gained entry to the house with the help of a spare key.
Police said Navashree sent a message to her friends Aishawarya and Anil on the morning of August 27, requesting to meet them. Navyashree told Aishwarya that she was distressed at home and outside and was facing marital disputes.
The two women then met Anil, who encouraged Nawashri to file a complaint against her husband, thinking police intervention might help. She also expressed concerns for her safety to friends, police said.
Around 11:30 that night, Anil sent the two women home and they went to bed. Aishwarya discovered Navyashree's body around 6 am, after which she informed her neighbors and contacted the police.
A murder case was registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
