Dr Debbrata Roy called it a “silent protest” and claimed other doctors were using similar stamps on their prescription orders demanding justice for RG Kar victims

A doctor in West Bengal's Raiganj is using his prescription slip to seek justice for the RG Kar MCH rape and murder victim. Dr. Debbrata Roy's prescription slip has a red circular stamp that reads “RG Kar: We want to destroy the cycle of crime.” In the middle of the stamp it says “We want justice”. A photo of a doctor's prescription went viral on social media.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Roy was a student of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Dr Roy called it a “silent protest” and claimed other doctors were using similar stamps on their prescription orders to demand justice for RG Kar victims. “This is my silent protest,” the doctor told Ananda Bazar Online.

“More than 20 days have passed[since the incident]and justice has not been served. Attacks against doctors have become commonplace. All these things affect the health sector, so I use this stamp in my prescriptions. My patients too It's encouraging,” Dr Roy told News18.

He said he would continue to use the seal on prescription orders until the Kolkata doctors get justice.

Meanwhile, amid protests over the RG Kar incident in many parts of the country, President Droupadi Murmu said on Wednesday she was “dismayed and shocked” by the crime. “No civilized society can allow daughters and sisters to be subjected to such atrocities,” the president said, adding that “enough is enough.”

“Even as students, doctors and citizens protest in Kolkata, criminal elements are still operating elsewhere,” President Murmu said.

“Society needs honest, unbiased self-reflection and asking ourselves some tough questions. Too often, the deplorable mentality sees women as inferior beings, less powerful, less capable, and less intelligent. People who hold this view Go one step further and treat women as objects. We owe it to our daughters to remove the obstacles in their path to freedom from fear,” she added.
