    Weather update: Light showers likely in Delhi; heavy rains in Gujarat, IMD issues orange alert

    Heavy rains lashed several parts of Delhi on Thursday, with the temperature dropping six notches to 28.8 degrees Celsius. Delhi's main weather station Safdarjung's observation station recorded 77.1 mm of rainfall on August 29.

    Gujarat has experienced heavy rainfall for several days, causing severe flooding in many cities in the state. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Gujarat on Friday due to the influence of deep depression over Kutch and adjoining areas of Saurashtra.     The IMD predicts very heavy rainfall in coastal areas of Karnataka on August 30. In the next 2-3 days, heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the coastal areas of Telangana, Kerala and Mahe, Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
