Talking about this goat market, vendor Bala Sudhakar said, “Goat market is held every Thursday at Pudhiambuttur. The annual market is held from 5:00 am to 11:30 am. Flag goats are mainly sold here.
Many people from other districts like Trichy, Thanjavur, Ariyalur and Pudukottai come here to buy flag goats. Flag goats are also for sale here. The quality of each goat and goat depends on its price,” he said.
A few months ago, cattle traders and farmers from Salem, Namakkal, Erode and Dharmapuri districts flocked to the Nangarwali market and reaped huge rewards. About 2,000 goats and sheep were brought to the market around 6 a.m.

V Selvaraj, a trader in Nangavalli, told TNIE, “Last year, the price of goats ranged from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000, while the price of sheep ranged from Rs 9,000 to Rs 12,000. This year there has been a surge in demand, resulting in a price increase of Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000.
Traders and farmers were delighted with the good results: animals worth 20 million rupees were sold within two hours of the market opening.
