Some students choose to drop out of ITI even after qualifying to pursue other goals. Sometimes, they leave to focus on entrepreneurship, such as starting their own company, rather than completing their degree. In many cases, people complete their degrees only to quit while working. In the same situation, a man quit his job after completing his ITI studies to help his father in the weaving business.

Tejas, a young man, earns about Rs 40,000 a month by weaving beds and chairs with fine plastic threads. Tejas stood next to his father, weaving a bed out of plastic thread. He hails from Koyalagudem village in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. He did ITI and worked in a company. Later, due to a small accident, he quit his job and started making plastic beds for 40 years. He continued in this profession with his father.

Talking to Local 18, he said the plastic threads will be imported from the Kokunur factory in Maharashtra. The plastic thread will be purchased in quantities of 400 kg. A bed requires two kilograms of plastic filament. The weaving cost per bed is Rs 800.

He further said that beds made from this wire are of very good quality. In addition, sofa seats, truck seats, tractor seats and chair seats are all specially woven with plastic yarn. “If we want to make any special items, we weave them with plastic thread,” Tejas said, adding that he was earning an income through this to make ends meet. He further added that his monthly income is around Rs 40,000.
