Kolkata rape-murder accused Sanjay Roy expressed anger over jail meals and demanded to be served egg fried noodles, in violation of jail rules, sources told News18.
Kolkata rape and murder accused Sanjay Roy, who is lodged at the Presidential Correctional Facility, has reportedly expressed anger over the meals served in the jail. Roy was not satisfied with the simple “roti-sabzi” meal served to him and asked to be allowed to eat fried noodles with eggs.
However, according to prison regulations, all prisoners must eat the same food prepared for other prisoners. As a result, Roy's demand for egg fried noodles cannot be satisfied.
Sources at the presidential palace prison said he became angry about the meal when he was served grilled meat and vegetables. But after being reprimanded by prison officials, he finally agreed to eat.
Earlier, when Roy was taken from CBI custody to the Presidential Correctional Facility, he requested the prison staff to allow him to sleep for a while. He has also been found to grunt at times. However, after a few days, he was back to normal.
Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the rape and murder case at RG Kar Hospital. The CBI team on Friday once again questioned Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata.
Sandeep Ghosh has been summoned by the CBI for 14 consecutive days in connection with the investigation into the rape-murder case of a trainee doctor. Officials said the agency had questioned Ghosh for more than 140 hours.
Apart from this heinous crime, Ghosh is also on the radar of the CBI in connection with the financial scam at the hospital and officials have registered an FIR against him and other agencies. On Sunday, CBI officials also raided the residence of the former principal and questioned him.
In early August, a junior doctor was raped and murdered in the hospital's seminar hall, sparking widespread protests.
On the morning of August 9, Roy was found in the chest department discussion room of the hospital with serious injuries on his body.
On August 13, the Calcutta High Court ordered the transfer of the investigation from the Kolkata Police to the CBI, which started the investigation on August 14.
