The shift from saffron to ‘Basanti’ has been implemented at the historic Shri Badshahi Bagh Gurudwara Sahib in Ambala.
In a major move, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has announced a change in the traditional colors of Nishan Sahib. Effective immediately, the Nishan Sahib, which has historically been decorated with saffron, will now be draped in 'Basanti' (orange hue) or 'Surmai' (blue).
The decision was taken on the directives of Shri Akal Takht Sahib requiring all Gurudwara Sahibs in Haryana to adopt a new color scheme. The shift from saffron to ‘Basanti’ has been implemented at the historic Shri Badshahi Bagh Gurudwara Sahib in Ambala.
Granthi of Shri Badshahi Bagh Gurudwara Sahib explained to Local 18 that while the colors of Nishan Sahib were set by the Akal Takht Sahib in 1936, recent instructions required this update. This change reflects the ongoing evolution of Sikh religious practices and compliance with the latest instructions of the Akal Takht Sahib.
Shri Badshahi Bagh Gurudwara Sahib is not only famous for its spiritual significance but also for its historical association with the Guru Sahib and the epic confrontation between the birds and the eagle.
