India's Central Bureau of Investigation has registered cases against anyone, including local authority officials, for various crimes, including criminal negligence, neglect of duty and corruption.
A Delhi court on Saturday sent six people arrested in connection with the drowning incident of three civil services candidates in the basement of the coaching center in Old Rajinder Nagar to four days of CBI custody.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Nishant Garg remanded Abhishek Gupta, Deshpal Singh, Tajinder Singh, Harvinder Singh, Sarabjit Singh and Parvinder Singh till September 4.
“Considering the information submitted in the application and in particular the scope of the investigation in the order of the Delhi High Court dated August 2, 2024, it is necessary to conduct custodial interrogation of the accused for the purposes of the investigation and to ascertain his role. The accused may be involved in corrupt practices or criminal offenses.” Different individuals played a role in the negligence,” the judge said.
The bench passed the order on an application filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), asking the police to detain all six accused for four days for interrogation.
The order was passed after the accused was produced from the court on expiry of the judicial custody granted earlier in the case.
