Pant, a 1991-batch IAS officer, will replace Bhagwati Prasad Gopalika, who retires on Saturday.
The West Bengal government on Saturday appointed senior bureaucrat Manoj Pant as chief secretary, an official said.
The order was issued less than 24 hours after Finance Minister Pant was transferred to the Ministry of Irrigation and Waterways.
Pant, a 1991-batch IAS officer, will replace Bhagwati Prasad Gopalika, who retires on Saturday.
Prabhat Kumar Mishra will succeed Pant in the finance department.
Gopalika, a 1989-batch IAS officer, was scheduled to retire on May 31, but his tenure was extended by three months.
