Situation remains grim with nearly 110 villages submerged in floods in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, CM Naidu seeks Center's assistance in rescue operations
Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah spoke to the chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and took stock of the heavy rain and flood situation in the two states. The Home Minister assured the central government to provide all possible help to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday discussed emergency delivery of power boats to the state with Union Home Minister Amit Shah for relief measures in flood-hit areas. After discussing the issue, he delivered a speech to the Central Home Minister.
The Home Secretary said that six NDRF teams with 25 members each from other states have been immediately dispatched to the state. Each team will have four power boats. All these teams are expected to reach Vijayawada by Monday morning.
Heavy rains also continued to lash many parts of Telangana, including Hyderabad. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday held an emergency review with ministers, officials and elected members to address the current situation.
Khammam district was the worst affected, with nearly 110 villages in the district being flooded. Due to heavy rains and waterlogging on the tracks at various locations on the South Central Railway (SCR), several passenger trains were either canceled, partially canceled or diverted.
