Dankar lamented the use of the term “symptoms” by some murmurs, which he said “exacerbates our unbearable suffering and adds salt to our wounded consciences.”

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday termed the violence committed against a “health warrior” at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital on August 9 as “an act of extreme barbarity”.

Addressing students and faculty of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Rishikesh, the Vice President said such barbaric incidents bring shame to the entire civilization and shatter the ideals that Bharat stands for.

Denkar deplored the use of the term “symptoms” in some rumors, saying such comments “exacerbate our unbearable pain and add salt to our wounded consciences”.

“When humans are humiliated, there are stray voices, voices that cause concern. They only exacerbate our pain. To put it mildly, they rub salt into our wounded consciences by saying 'This is a A symptomatic discomfort that occurs frequently.”

“When this comes from the mouths of members of Congress, senior advocates, the culpability is extremely serious. There is no excuse for this kind of demonization. I call on these misguided souls to re-examine their thoughts and publicly apologize. This This is not an occasion where you should look through a political prism. This political prism is dangerous and it kills your objectivity,” he added.

Aware of the responsibility he has to the medical fraternity and to the women of the country by virtue of his constitutional position, Danka said: “I stand before you. In fact, holding the constitutional position, I have to show my responsibility, I have to prove my role as Vice President The position of the President of the House of Federation is reasonable. “…Our hearts are hurt, our consciences are crying and our souls are seeking responsibility,” he added.

Terming the work of medical professionals as “Nishkam Seva” as Lord Krishna calls it, without any expectation just to perform their duties, the Vice President condemned any form of violence against doctors.

He expressed concerns about doctors' safety in the workplace and stressed the need to put in place mechanisms to protect “health warriors”.

“The doctor can only help so much. The doctor cannot transform himself into God. He is second to God, so when someone dies out of emotion and a sense of loss of control, the doctor is not treated as he should be… Doctors, nurses, The security of compounders, health warriors must be impregnably protected,” he added.

Dankar criticized the “selective silence” of NGOs, saying: “Some NGOs are in silence mode. We must question them.” Their silence is far more serious than the guilt of the perpetrators of this heinous crime on August 9, 2024. “

The Vice President stressed that society has the responsibility to prevent such incidents from happening and to establish a mechanism to make women feel safe. “Whoever did this will be held accountable, but society must also bear responsibility.” Society cannot escape its responsibilities. . I don’t want it to be a government issue or a party issue. This is a social problem…

“It shakes the very foundation of our existence. It questions what India has stood for for thousands of years.”
