BJP president JP Nadda, who was scheduled to discuss organizational issues the next day, spent only half of the second day in the meeting after attending a party unit event in Palakkad before leaving for Delhi
Palakkad, an almost isolated, peaceful corner of Kerala, is currently hosting the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's three-day Akhil Bharatiya Samanvay Baithak, a ritual of discipline and absolute control.
The Baithak event started on Saturday with a total of 320 Swayamsevak (volunteer) participants, including people in their seventies and young newcomers. The seniors, who included presidents of national organizations, senior officials and people who held key positions in government, gave up the influence of their positions and submitted their cellphones to stay at the venue for 72 hours.
Baithak heard the discussion, deliberation of the issue and subsequent instructions on the course of action from the organization's chief Mohan Bhagwat.
What happened to Baisak?
They ate together, stayed together, prayed together, and became one. It is not just a meeting but a symbol of organizational rules, akin to a strict organizational world, which makes the RSS different from any political party.
For organizations, rules are strict and routines are precise, but they remain difficult for people to understand.
The usual RSS routine of physical activities and Shakhas remains temporarily suspended during Samanvay Baithak. The day began with a prayer for the attendees, who then gathered in the auditorium for the meeting. The jobs include cooking, cleaning and serving – all done by RSS volunteers, with no work outsourced.
His representatives are scheduled to attend on Sunday and are expected to address future challenges and strategies, perhaps setting the tone for discussions to come. Apart from Nadda, the BJP also sent senior leaders including party organizational secretary BL Santosh to Baithak.
However, unlike other key figures who were always involved and stayed at the venue, Nada's involvement was said to be particularly brief. Nadda planned to discuss organizational issues the next day and spent only half of the second day attending meetings after attending a party unit event in Palakkad before leaving for Delhi.
