In order to protect and preserve Kannada language, Bangalore Kannada Manasugala Tanda has taken proactive steps to save Kannada schools. The group has long worked to preserve their culture and traditions. According to media reports, they took the initiative to paint the century-old public school at their own expense.
Media reports also said that the Bangalore City team has selected two schools, namely the Government Kannada Model Primary School in Harugopa village in Belgaum district and the Government Higher Primary School in Shirebudh Nur village. According to reports, they spent around Rs 1.25 lakh to paint the school. Under the Kannada Schools Must Survive movement, they took the initiative to decorate the walls with murals of freedom fighters while beautifying the overall appearance of the school.
An official mentioned, “We have chosen to whitewash the school to protect and preserve the Kannada language. The aim of this effort is to attract more children to government schools. We work closely with the people to develop the school and make it a welcoming place for students A better place to study”
Under the campaign ‘Kannada Schools Must Survive, Kannada Must Grow’, the team identified government schools that were in poor condition. According to reports, a team of about 50 members first visited the schools and conducted inspections. Then they painted the school with the help of villagers. According to reports, their efforts have brought new life to the school and inspired children to be passionate about education. “The main objective of our team is to ensure the survival of government Kannada schools. We have taken this step to ensure that every poor child gets quality education. This will motivate children to attend school and study harder,” one said a member named Yallappa Kumbhar.
