However, police identified the man as a local resident with mental health issues and allowed him to leave, angering the crowd. The protesters demanded immediate action against the accused and the police officers involved. A case was subsequently registered under Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing video footage to find the suspect, the report said.
