The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) anti-corruption wing on Monday arrested former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandip Ghosh for alleged financial irregularities in the medical institution during his tenure.
Ghosh was on his 15th day of interrogation at the institution's Salt Lake City office in connection with the August 9 rape and murder of a postgraduate intern at RG Kar Hospital. Go to Nizam Palace Office.

Khan's name in the case surfaced after a video went viral in which he claimed to be in touch with the West Bengal Chief Minister, known as “CM Didi”, while interacting with officials of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The CBI's special crime branch is probing the rape and murder cases, while the anti-corruption wing is questioning Ghosh in connection with financial irregularities.
Dr Akhtar Ali, the hospital's former vice-president, had made numerous complaints of financial irregularities at the hospital during Ghosh's tenure as principal.

Trinamool Congress leader Santanu Sen criticized Dr Sandip Ghosh and the affairs of the state's health department after his murder, After the former principal of RG Kar Hospital was arrested, he felt he had been vindicated.
“God does justice. It turns out I was right. I shared all the information about this corruption in the right place a long time ago,” he posted on Facebook.
TMC leader Kunal Ghosh, who was recently removed as TMC state general secretary, said the party would not have faced such an embarrassing situation if the health department had taken action against Ghosh.

Charges against Sandeep Ghosh
The CBI had earlier named Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, in an FIR and the institution had filed an FIR probing alleged financial irregularities in the institution during his tenure.
The agency is investigating IPC Section 120B (criminal conspiracy), IPC Section 420 (cheating and dishonesty) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (as amended) 2018 (covering unlawful acceptance of bribe by a public servant). cracked down hard.
The CBI filed the FIR after taking over the investigation from the State-constituted Special Investigation Team (SIT) on the directions of the Calcutta High Court. .
The order was issued on a petition by former deputy director of RG Kar Hospital Akhtar Ali, who requested an Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe into alleged financial misconduct in the institution.
Ali's High Court action comes amid heated speculation in the public domain about whether alleged rampant corruption at the institution had anything to do with the doctor's death, and the possibility that the victim was still in the know and threatened exposure.
Ali also claimed that he lodged a complaint against Ghosh with the National Monitoring Commission and the Anti-Corruption Bureau a year ago, but it had little effect and instead led to his own transfer from the agency.
In his plea before the High Court, Ali accused Ghosh of illegally selling unclaimed bodies, trafficking in biomedical waste and soliciting tenders for commissions paid to suppliers of drugs and medical equipment. Ali also claimed that students were forced to pay a fee of Rs 500-800,000 to pass the examination.
Ghosh served as the director of RG Kar Hospital from February 2021 to September 2023. He remained at the hospital until the doctor was found murdered.
