The Sanket Durga Puja Committee of Kolaghat in collaboration with the Sati Charitable Trust of Kolkata has launched the prosthetic organ transplantation programme.
A seminar on artificial organ transplantation has started at Kolaghat New Market inside the Radha Madhav temple in East Midnapur district of West Bengal. Approximately 200 individuals from 16 districts across the state benefit from this completely free service, provided they make prior arrangements.
The main aim of the initiative is to help those who have permanently lost limbs due to various circumstances such as road accidents. Temporary facilities were set up in the workshop and equipped with necessary materials and equipment. Expert doctors and highly skilled technicians from different states are working tirelessly to create customized prosthetics for participants.
The Sanket Durga Puja Committee of Kolaghat in collaboration with the Sati Charitable Trust of Kolkata has launched the prosthetic organ transplantation program at the Radha Madhav temple.
This seminar will last about a week. Many people lose limbs due to birth defects or accidents, and often cannot afford prosthetics. To support these people, an artificial organ transplant workshop was established at Kolaghat.
As Durga Puja approaches, these prosthetic limbs will help the recipients make the most of the festival. During the week-long event, a total of 200 people with disabilities will receive free prosthetics.
Not only residents of East Midnapur but also residents from neighboring districts like Howrah, Hooghly, Kolkata, Burdwan, West Midnapur, South Twenty-Four Parganas and Bankura will also benefit. There are about 200 people with disabilities in these 11 districts who require one or more limbs.
At camp, participants receive a prosthetic limb or leg that is immediately attached to their body for free. The program starts on Monday 2nd September.
Due to various accidents and birth defects, some participants lost one or both legs or part of an arm, permanently disrupting their normal lives. It was with them in mind that Kolaghat Sanket organized this seminar. The prosthetics are made by the camp's doctors and skilled craftsmen and will be provided free of charge starting September 2.
Recipients of the initiative expressed joy and gratitude for the club’s efforts.
