    Center closely monitors Andhra Pradesh floods, Telangana steps up disaster relief measures updated

    The total number of people affected by floods in Andhra Pradesh increased to 6.44 lakh on Wednesday, with 42,707 people accommodated in 193 relief camps.

    Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Center is closely monitoring the current flood situation in Andhra Pradesh and has constituted a team of experts that will go to the flood-affected areas of the state for on-site assessment and propose immediate Rescue advice.

    So far, 20 people have died as rains and floods wreaked havoc in various parts of Andhra Pradesh, especially Vijayawada.

    In a post with “X”, Shah said that the Modi government is closely monitoring the flood situation in Andhra Pradesh.

    “The expert team will go to flood-affected areas to conduct on-site assessments of flood management, reservoir management, dam safety and other issues, and make recommendations for immediate rescue,” he said.

    The total number of people affected by floods in Andhra Pradesh increased to 6.44 lakh on Wednesday, with 42,707 people accommodated in 193 relief camps.

    In seven districts of NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Parnadu, Krishna, Eluru and West Godavari, officials have identified 63,894 families for distribution of essential commodities.

    Thousands of acres of paddy fields were submerged from Bhimavaram to Gudivada. Between Gudivada and Vijayawada, vast expanses of flooded fields resemble ponds.

    As many as 3,312 kilometers of roads were damaged in Andhra Pradesh. The area of ​​crops damaged was 169,000 hectares, and the area of ​​horticulture crops damaged was 18,424 hectares.

    Andhra Pradesh minister says flood relief efforts in Vijayawada are gaining momentum

    Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said progress has been made in flood relief and rehabilitation work in Vijayawada, noting that government agencies are working based on public feedback from affected areas.

    The chief minister said the government is seeking feedback from victims on how to plan rescue efforts through the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) three times a day.

    Telangana government steps up post-flood relief measures

    The Telangana government on Wednesday intensified relief measures in Kamam and other areas hit by heavy rains and floods.

    Meanwhile, the water level of the Godavari river reached 43 feet on Tuesday afternoon and the authorities issued the first flood warning for the temple town of Bhadrachalam.

    Official sources said Bhadradri-Kothagudem district magistrate Jitesh V Patil asked officials to shift residents of vulnerable areas of Bhadrachalam to relief camps.

    More celebrities from the Telugu film industry, including Chiranjeevi, Allu Arjun and Mahesh Babu, have come forward following heavy rains and subsequent floods in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Support flood relief efforts.

    At least 33 people, 16 in Telangana and 17 in Andhra Pradesh, were killed in rain-related incidents and floods.

    The three actors have pledged Rs 50 lakh each to the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
