Shri Durga Foundation organized a summer camp for government high school students at Koppalu in Manchegowda, Karnataka, where more than 100 children participated in making eco-friendly Jiva Ganesha idols out of clay. The children happily made their own unique Ganpati idols and placed seeds in them before taking them home. The school teacher shared the importance of using clay Ganpati idols for worship instead of idols made of harmful materials like POP (Plaster of Paris). Artist R Lakshi Chalapati emphasizes that true worship comes from devotion and not from ostentatious display. He stressed that Ganesha idols made of toxic chemicals harm the environment and cause water pollution. He also mentioned that other organisms were negatively affected. Charlapati encouraged the children to use small idols made of pure clay and made them understand the importance of celebrating Ganeshasava in an eco-friendly way.
