Bose said the West Bengal government was “going wrong step by step” and highlighted the lack of public trust in the system that had led to recent mass protests
Amid ongoing protests demanding justice for the young doctor who was raped and murdered at the state-run RG Kar Hospital last month, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Thursday criticized the state government's handling of the matter.
Bose said the West Bengal government was “going from wrong to wrong”, stressing that a lack of public trust in the system had led to the recent massive protests.
He said, “What I see today in West Bengal, especially on the administrative front, is that it keeps going wrong. They should realize that two wrongs, even if they are contradictory, do not constitute a right. The government must take action , must win the trust of the people and should be punished.
He further observed that the people of Bangladesh no longer feel they can expect justice from the government, a sentiment reflected in widespread protests, including candlelight marches held late into the night on Wednesday.
“People should feel that they can expect justice from the government. Now, that feeling is gone. That's what was reflected in the massive protests that culminated yesterday.
