Actor Darshan's gang reportedly gave an electric shock to Renukaswamy's private parts using a megger, an electrical device used to measure insulation resistance, the chargesheet said
Karnataka police have filed a chargesheet in the sensational Renuka Swamy kidnapping and murder case, which identifies the role of jailed Kannada superstar Darshan and details him (Renuka Swami) suffered cruel and inhuman torture before his death.
“After being attacked by Darshan and his gang, Renukaswamy suffered a fractured sternum. There were a total of 39 injuries on his body. The victim also suffered a deep gash on his head,” the charge sheet reads.
It added that the gang reportedly used a megger, an electrical device used to measure insulation resistance, to give electric shocks to Renuka Swamy's private parts.
“Darshan and his gang used a megger to damage Renukaswamy's testicles,” the charge sheet reads.
Another source said Renukaswamy was subjected to unheard of and inhuman torture before being hacked to death.
“After the murder, Darshan and the other defendants used their influence and money to dispose of the bodies and attempt to destroy evidence. They also tried to frame others to evade charges,” the charge sheet said.
The statement said they destroyed physical, technical and scientific evidence and attempted to destroy more evidence out of a common criminal intent.
Darshan has been named as the second accused in the case and his legal team is preparing to submit a bail request. However, getting bail will not be easy as he is involved in three more cases related to extravagant treatment inside prisons, police sources said.
The police found blood stains of Renuka Swamy on the clothes seized from Darshan. They also retrieved messages sent by Renukaswamy's associates during the abduction, imprisonment, torture, murder and disposal of Renukaswamy's body.
After the incident, Darshan left for Mysore to shoot for his upcoming film Devil. A Bengaluru police team led by ACP Chandan Kumar arrested him from a hotel after cracking the case.
Sources said Darshan tried to resist the arrest. However, ACP Chandan Kumar ordered him to get inside the police jeep or face the risk of being dragged inside and further strict action will be taken as per the rules.
Darshan is one of the few superstars in the Kannada film industry. In light of these developments, an industry that was just starting to make its mark at the national level suffered a major setback.
In the chargesheet, Pavithra Gowda has been marked as A-1 and Darshan as A-2. Fourteen people have been charged with murder and 14 others face kidnapping and murder charges. Karthik alias Kappe, Keshavamurthy and Nikhil Nayak were accused of destroying evidence.
Volume One contains a summary report of the case. Volume II contains voluntary statements from 17 defendants. Volume Three provides detailed information on direct and indirect evidence. Volume IV contains autopsy and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reports.
Volume 5 contains FSL and CSFL analyses.
Sources said the 24th ACMM court will take up the case and transfer it to the court after receiving copies of the chargesheets of all the accused.
