Planning officials are continuing to monitor water flows.

The Sri Ram Sagar scheme, which is the lifeline of North Telangana, is currently suffering from severe flooding. The authorities have opened 41 sluice gates of the project, releasing 283,000 cubic feet of water into the Godavari river. The project's hydroelectric power plant generates 27 MW of electricity through four units. Due to heavy inflows from upstream, excess water was released into the lower Godavari, prompting former minister and Bodhan MLA P. Sudarshan Reddy to advise residents of surrounding areas to remain vigilant. He urged people to avoid river banks and take necessary precautions to prevent any untoward incident. MLA Sudarshan Reddy along with District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu, Commissioner of Police Kalmeshwar and irrigation officials visited Sriram Sagar at Pochampad in Nizamabad district reservoir. They checked the flood inflow in the upstream area and the remaining water volume at 41 gates. According to officials, the reservoir had received an inflow of 265,000 cubic meters as of 4 p.m. The full capacity of the reservoir is 1091 feet and the water level is 80 TMC and the current water level is 1088 feet and the water level is 70.140 TMC. The authorities are in the process of releasing around 2.83 lakh cusec of remaining water, of which 15,000 cusec is being released through flood channels and the remaining water is being discharged into the lower Godavari river through sluice gates.
MLA Sudarshan Reddy directed the planning officials to continuously monitor the water flow and ensure that appropriate measures are taken to avoid damage to downstream areas. He warned that neglect in water management could pose potential risks to surrounding areas. At the Amol Municipal Office, the Ministry of Justice, Revenue Collector and Police officials held a review meeting with heads of various departments to assess the situation in the flood-affected areas. They emphasized taking all necessary precautions to prevent public inconvenience.
Despite the continued rainfall, the authorities took well-planned measures to ensure that lakes or streams did not breach and the public did not experience any difficulties. District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu pointed out that the flood flow from the Sriram Sagar project is expected to increase further due to the release of remaining water from the upstream project in Maharashtra, with the inflow estimated to be over 400,000 cusecs. He predicted that the flood would continue for another three days. Residents of the downstream areas of Mendola, Mosadh, Yirgatra and Kamapally located along the Godavari river are advised to exercise caution. He stressed that under no circumstances should people go fishing or swimming in the river. Police and excise teams have also been deployed to closely monitor the situation.
