A radical climate protest group called Climate Rebellion backed Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday, citing their belief that she will be able to press her on energy policy. [emphasis, links added]

The activist group initially refused to back Harris, appearing to condition its support on her accepting a series of demands, including Complete moratorium on new oil and gas projects and prohibit new fossil fuel leasing on federal lands and waters.

The group Climate Rebellion had launched one of its signature disruptive protests against Harris in 2023 after meeting with one of Harris' top advisers in early September [pictured above] – support her candidacy now because she is 'Leaders we can pressure and push' on key energy policiesthe organization announced in a social media post on Wednesday.

“Climate Rebels is endorsing Kamala Harris for President of the United States,” the group wrote in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“Harris is not the visionary we need, but she is the leader we can press and move. A Trump presidency would be an all-out disaster for our climate, water, and land. Trump will empty out [Environmental Protection Agency]repealing regulations on cars, power plants and farms. He would sell out our sacred public spaces to his billionaire cronies. it's out of the question.

The disruptive activist group, which often interrupts speeches and major events to protest fossil fuels, joins a string of hardline eco-activist groups that have lined up to back Harris even though she no longer explicitly supports a fracking ban .

Climate Challenge believes Harris is a “bandwagon politician” who may be forced to take positions she didn't want to take in the first place.

Climate rebel group 'vehemently' opposes Harris' recent U-turn on frackingShe previously wanted to ban, as well as the Biden-Harris administration's policy of continuing to ship weapons to Israel as it fights terrorist groups in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
