Editor's Note: The US election shows 1) the impotence of climate alarmism and 2) the bad experience with wind, solar and batteries, this is a timely repost from earlier this year. Update, replace Joe Biden with Kamala Harris.
“The clean energy transition should happen, but reckless stupidity should increase Trump's chances of reelection!” (Robert Bibeau, Part 2)
Robert Bibeau, a self-proclaimed environmental and energy analyst and observer, recently lamented Trump’s growing popularity relative to President Biden. He said:
this new york times Polls show Trump leading in five battleground states. A certain point in time is not a certainty on Election Day. despite this! Never worry about Trump supporters.
Bibbo then introduced some historical analysis:
In 2016, Democratic think tanks launched a clean powerhouse war on coal against Clinton. Kluman thinks 2x (New York Times) thinks CPP 1 delivered Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin (46 EC votes) to elect Trump 45. In 2020, those 46 votes elected Biden. Entering 2024, think tanks have Biden waging a Clean Power Plan 2 war on fossil fuels. Add to that the legitimate possibility of a power grid failure in the Midwest, and the possibility of a Trump reappearance is all too real. The clean energy transition should happen, but reckless stupidity increases Trump’s chances of re-election! Like CPP1, CPP2 has no chance of becoming law.
There is a bit of a civil war at the moment, with some climate alarmists warning of political reasons to slow down. But doesn’t Bibo know that the climate is in crisis and that the emergency is upon us? Biden, Kerry and Al Gore have all said this. The United Nations says so. Scientist Andrew Dessler says…
But maybe climate politics is about more than just “saving the planet.” Maybe it has something to do with money and power, the climate-industrial complex, which is eroding prosperity but at a pace that keeps its subjects from rebelling.
I responded:
For Democrats, ending the transition with an apology would be the best course of action. After all, wind, solar and batteries are not only uneconomical but also unenvironmentally friendly.
Joseph Toomey added:
Your “clean energy transition” cannot happen without “reckless stupidity.” … Add to that the fact that the economy will be even worse a year from now, and that pollsters like The Times/Siena often oversample Democrats in the raw data adjustment process, and the disadvantage of these polls may only be It will get bigger and bigger.
Bibbo didn't respond, but I think he's working on something that will fully sprout in November.
