“[Democrats] The past 16 years have set much of the agenda, but many voters remain dissatisfied with the state of the country.
“Inflation and high interest rates may be attributed to high government spending spurring excessive demand. High natural gas prices may be attributed to the suspension of drilling permits and the termination of the Keystone pipeline project.
“The party advocates a tough response to the virus… It… seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and spend trillions of dollars on stimulus. All of this is quickly becoming a burden as the pandemic ends.
“On issue after issue, the Democratic response has been a shift to the right. Democrats overall have de-emphasized policies they confidently preached to a broad base of voters just a few years ago.
If Kamala loses, the recriminations will be fast and furious. The Green New Deal is part of the problem and the subject of yesterday’s post. If Kamala wins, she will be the most unpopular president on day one. But will her progressive left take notice? Or will they run down the road to serfdom, as if getting there will bring inclination and stability?
